Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team (TP PKK) of Malang City always provides space to preserve Indonesian cultural heritage. One of them is through the Modern Kebaya Competition by PKK cadres at the Kartini Building, Malang City, Friday (10/3/2023).

Chairwoman of the Malang City PKK TP, Widayati Sutiaji, S.Sos, MM in her speech expressed her appreciation for the implementation of this activity and to the participants who participated in the Modern Kebaya Competition.
Widayati said the background of this competition was to preserve the kebaya as one of Indonesia's cultural heritages that is full of meaning.
"Kebaya has a philosophy, its shape adapts to the shape of a woman's body, symbolizing women who can adapt to various atmospheres, circumstances and cultures gently and flexibly. Women wearing kebaya look graceful and radiate their feminine aura," he explained.
This Modern Kebaya Competition was attended by PKK cadres from all sub-districts in Malang City. This competition also set unique and unusual requirements, namely participants must be at least 50 years old and weigh at least 70 kilograms.
"This kebaya competition activity is an extraordinary momentum. We make all women become advanced, independent, creative and innovative women," she said.
The woman in the hijab further revealed that the Modern Kebaya Competition is part of the 2023 Malang City Expo. She hopes that this competition can increase visitor attraction and boost the economy.
During the competition, the participants were seen gracefully swaying on stage with their flexibility. The kebaya they wore looked beautiful and fashionable. After the assessment, the winner of the competition was the representative of the PKK cadre from Kotalama Village, followed by the representative of the cadre from Madyopuro Village as the second winner and Sawojajar as the third winner.
On this occasion, TP PKK Malang City through the fostered UMKM at Rumah Solusi also enlivened the Malang City Expo 2023. Dozens of superior products from Malang City were exhibited, ranging from Malangan batik cloth, dried butterfly pea flowers, cookies to Malang City's typical crafts. The presence of Rumah Solusi is also a forum for Malang City's UMKM products so that they can have a wider market. (vin/ari/yon)
