Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – In the last 15 years, economic growth in Malang City has been extraordinary, even though it experienced a minus in 2019-2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Since 2021, the economy has started to stir and is at four percent, in 2022 it has climbed to 6,32 percent. In 2023, it is predicted to continue to grow above that figure.

This was conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, at the Investment Activity Report (LKPM) Award event initiated by the Malang City Manpower, Investment and Integrated One-Stop Service (Disnaker-PMPTSP) at the Malang Creative Center (MCC) Malang City, Friday night (10/3/2023). In this event, 70 institutions engaged in wholesale, retail, information communication and restaurants were nominated.
With the continued growth of the economy, it shows that investor confidence is very high in Malang City and the future prospects are quite good. Some of the supporting indicators include the conduciveness of the area, the community is united and obedient to the rules.
Several areas in East Java that are competitors of Malang City and have extraordinary potential are Tuban Regency with oil and cement potential. Gresik with Petrochemical and Semen Gresik, Sidoarjo as an industrial area and Surabaya as the provincial capital.
"What they have is not owned by Malang City. However, our economic growth in 2022 exceeds the national. This is extraordinary and deserves to be appreciated, so that this achievement can continue to be maintained and improved," added the number one person in the Malang City Government.
To realize all that, the bespectacled man mentioned one of them is the investment value must be high and how to give confidence to prospective investors. More concretely, Mayor Sutiaji said that services in Malang City in the future must be easier and better.
"There must be clarity on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), service standards must be optimal and digitalization must be further enhanced. Simplifying licensing is also a mandate of the law, so there is no reason for complicated services, especially supported by digitalization," concluded Sutiaji. (say/yon)
