As long as the fluctuations are within reasonable limits, it will certainly not trigger unrest in society.
However, if the opposite is true, when the price fluctuations of basic necessities are high, it will cause unrest if it is not addressed immediately.
When price fluctuations occur, they should not be triggered or accompanied by a shortage of goods because it will trigger unstable fluctuations.
Several things were emphasized by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji when High Level Meeting (HLM) Malang City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) at the Grand Mercure Hotel, Malang City, Monday (13/3/2023).
According to him, because this is a high-level meeting, the parties involved, such as Perum Bulog, Bank Indonesia, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) must have concrete steps.
The policies taken should not only be analytical, but must be realized in real steps. What must be done now and tomorrow must be realistic, especially in responding to fluctuations in the price of necessities.
"Synergy and collaboration between related institutions must continue to be strengthened to realize this," he stressed.
Furthermore, the number one person in the Malang City Government said that TPID must have and be able to differentiate between populist and non-populist policies so that the policies taken can provide solutions to the community.
"So that a policy does not cause and does not trigger excessive worry in society," added Sutiaji.
He gave an example of what is happening now, where the month of Ramadan is only a few days away, which is indicated to be happening. panic buying in society.
"How can it not happen, and TPID must be able to control inflation. In addition, the distribution and availability of basic necessities must be maintained. If it is needed, a market operation must be held, then it must be implemented immediately," said Sutiaji. (say/yon)
