Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Dozens of models of all ages strutted on the catwalk (fashion show stage) displaying clothes with wastra (traditional cloth that has its own meaning and symbolism referring to the dimensions of color, size, and material, for example batik, woven cloth, songket, etc.) typical of Indonesia at the Malang Creative Center (MCC) Malang City, Friday (18/3/2023).
Carrying the theme 'Tahta Wastra Nusantara', this fashion show highlights the beauty of traditional Nusantara wastra to be made into clothing with various amazing models. Traditional Indonesian wastra from various tribes has its own uniqueness that makes the audience amazed. The designers also look very creative in combining motifs, patterns, colors, and materials into a charming iconic clothing.
Head of the Youth, Sports and Tourism Agency (Disporapar) of Malang City, Baihaqi, S.Pd, SE, M.Si said that the Malang City Government (Pemkot) strongly supports and appreciates creative economic activities, one of which is this fashion show.
One of the forms, he mentioned, is the existence of this MCC. The building equipped with various facilities was established to accommodate the young generation of Malang City to be creative in developing their talents. "This is a public building that can be utilized by the arek-arek Malang. Especially for the development of 17 sub-sectors of the creative economy, one of which is fashion," said Baihaqi.
Baihaqi also encouraged fashion players in Malang City to continue to work and progress. "Let's make Malang City the France of Indonesia. Why not? We have extraordinary potential. Let's continue to strengthen it together. With activities like this, our economic activities will also run," he invited.
The fashion show and fashion parade competition from 20 designers from Malang City and its surroundings is the highlight of the 21st anniversary celebration of Focus Model Management. Focus Model Management is one of the leading modeling schools and agencies in Malang City. (ari/yon)
