Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Six of the 16 patrol music art teams participated in the final round of the Modern Patrol Music Festival on Jalan Ijen, Malang City, Saturday night (18/3/2023). The event, which was organized by the Malang City Youth, Sports and Tourism Office (Disporapar), was to welcome the Holy Month of Ramadan 1444 Hijriah.

Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji after the event said that the Modern Patrol Music Festival is also an effort to preserve cultural values that are developing in society. "This festival is also a manifestation of Malang City's commitment to maintaining and preserving the arts and culture of ancestral heritage," he added.
The number one person in the Malang City Government added, according to the message of the Proclaimer of the Indonesian Nation, President Soekarno, namely never abandon history (Jasmerah), and this event is one of the proofs. "We may currently follow modernization, acceleration and cultural assimilation, but never abandon the culture that used to have good values," said Sutiaji.
"Our cultural roots must be well-planted and young people must know that Indonesia, which is now advanced, has been planted with culture and Indonesian characters for a long time and we must not forget the people who have done good deeds. In addition, there are also old traditions that have good values. Let's cultivate all of this to move towards something better," he invited.
This traditional art, he said, was deliberately collaborated with modern music to make it more interesting and entertain the public. "From this festival, it is also expected to increase tourist visits, especially religious tourism. The more events, the more tourists will come," explained Sutiaji.
Meanwhile, the Head of Disporapar Malang City, Baihaqi, S.Pd, SE, M.Si said that his party will continue to provide assistance and coaching so that the patrol music art remains sustainable and grows. "Each group will later be performed in a number of places where the masses gather, such as the city square, Kayutangan Heritage and Malang City Government official events," he said.
Baihaqi said that this festival was held in order to provide a positive channel for patrol music activists in the community, as well as to continue to increase the growth of tourism visits in Malang City.
In the future, the Malang City Disporapar will hold similar festivals routinely and sustainably that are more spectacular. "Registration will be opened for participants from Malang Raya and even if possible up to the East Java Province level," he concluded. (say/yon)
