One of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Malang City engaged in food processing is Yoiki Tchen. The business located on Jl Bandara Narita Cemorokandang, Kedungkandang has been running for approximately two years, starting during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Business owner, Yusliha Ningsih explained that the food product from UMKM Yoiki Kitchen has a superior product, namely Lawoeh Pedo, which is a ready-to-eat processed peda fish (Javanese: iwak pedo) that has a distinctive taste with a salty and spicy taste.
"Lawoeh Pedo is made from salted fish with selected spices and the most interesting thing is, this product is not available anywhere else. Almost like shredded meat, practical, easy, ready to be served anytime with warm rice and the taste is great," Yusliha explained.
In addition to Lawoeh Pedo, there are also carrot nuggets with two packaging variations, namely 300 grams and 400 grams. This food product is no less interesting than Lawoeh Pedo, because these carrot nuggets are produced without Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) and preservatives.
Yusliha said, Lawoeh Pedo can last two to three days at room temperature. However, if stored in the refrigerator it can last up to two weeks. "Because without MSG and preservatives, carrot nuggets are very safe for children to consume. In addition, there are also vegetables, namely carrots," she said.
The price of each Yoiki Tchen product is very affordable. For nuggets measuring 300 grams, it is priced at IDR 22.000, and for 400 grams, it is priced at IDR 50.000. While for Lawoeh Pedo, it is priced at IDR 20.000.
