Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City Police carried out the destruction of evidence from the 2023 Pekat Semeru Operation in the front yard of the Sanika Satyawada Ballroom of Malang City Police, Wednesday (29/3/23). The ranks of the Malang City Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) were also present at the destruction of evidence from the Pekat Semeru Operation which was previously held from March 17-28, 2023.

Malang City Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Pol. Bhudi Hermanto, SIK, M.Si during a press conference revealed that from the 2023 Semeru Pekat Operation, 513 cases were successfully uncovered. "The results of the Semeru Pekat Operation which ran for approximately two weeks, from the cases we uncovered, there were 513 cases, 17 cases were the target of the operation, and 496 were developments," he explained.
The details of the 513 cases that were uncovered were 412 cases of thuggery, 43 cases of prostitution, 47 cases of liquor, one case of explosives, nine cases of drugs, and one case of gambling.
Meanwhile, the confiscated evidence from each case that was successfully secured was money worth Rp4.352.000,-, 972 bottles of arak liquor, 1.300 bottles of liquor of various brands, five kilos of explosives in the form of firecracker powder, 400,61 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 21,444 kilograms of marijuana, 655 Double L pills, seven mobile phones, one Mazda Famillia sedan, and two motorbikes.
The Malang City Police Chief, familiarly called Buher, said that the results of the Semeru Pekat Operation had increased rapidly compared to the previous year. According to him, this was possible because community activities were starting to return to normal along with the decline in Covid-19 cases in Malang City.
"If we look at the percentage, it has increased by 453 percent due to various community activities that are starting to return to normal and recover and there are no restrictions on community activities," he explained.
In relation to this, Buher appealed to the community to care more about the people around them and avoid negative activities that could harm themselves and others.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, who was also present at the destruction, expressed his appreciation to law enforcement officers in maintaining the security stability of Malang City. Regarding the results of the 2023 Semeru Pekat Operation, Sutiaji said that he was both happy and sad with the results obtained.
"Mixed, between happy and sad. Happy because law enforcement has carried out its duties extraordinarily. But also concerned because in a two-week period, so many could be caught," he said.
The number one person in the Malang City Government also appealed to the community not to hesitate to report to the relevant agencies if they see criminal acts in their surroundings.
"If there is a crime around, do not hesitate to report it. Only through that will we be able to reduce the crime rate in Malang City," he said. (iu/yon)
