Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Welcoming the 109th Anniversary of Malang City which is celebrated every April 1, artists and cultural figures of Malang City held a tumpeng and joint prayer at Alun-Alun Tugu, Friday midnight (31/3/2023).
After the event procession, the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji said that this event was to preserve culture or as a step to maintain traditional arts, so that diversity and tolerance are maintained and can continue to be strengthened.
The choice of Alun-Alun Tugu in front of Malang City Hall as the venue for this event is because this Tugu Monument is an important part of the history of the founding of Malang City. "This monument existed before the establishment of the Monas Monument in Jakarta, and not many areas have monuments like this," explained the bespectacled man.
Sutiaji added, this monument is also a symbol of how upright a stance is. Whoever leads Malang City must have a strong and upright stance or attitude. "In this context, it is in order to realize a harmonious, just and prosperous society," he explained.
"Along with the flow of culture, the flow of cultural acculturation and cultural assimilation that is so intense, especially Malang is a City of Education that should have many people coming to the Land of Arema that we love, so it is only a matter of how the character must be built well," explained the number one person in the ranks of the Malang City Government.
A similar statement was made by one of the senior cultural figures, Ki Soleh Adi Purnomo. In addition to his hope that Malang City will be better in the future, he also hopes that this tradition can be inherited by the young generation. "Thus, this tradition will not fade away due to the progress of time and will be maintained throughout time," he said.
It is known that this event is also to commemorate one of the cultural maestros of Malang City dance who passed away a few days ago, namely Yongki Irawan. (say/yon)
