The opening ceremony of the new money exchange service began with the cutting of the ribbon and the release of balloons by the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji and the Head of the BI Malang Representative Office Samsun Hadi, witnessed by the Chairperson of the Malang City PKK TP Widayati and the heads of banks who were present.

In his speech, Malang Mayor Sutiaji said that the public need not worry because Rp4,6 trillion has been prepared for new money exchange services for the needs of Eid 1444 H.

With the opening of the service opened by BI Malang together with General Banking, according to Sutiaji, it can also minimize unwanted things. "This is a good cooperation that can minimize the circulation of counterfeit money, and also other crimes because it cannot guarantee that the money in circulation can be guarded," he said.

On this occasion, the bespectacled man expressed his appreciation and felt proud of the holding of this activity, considering that the economy of Malang City had experienced a decline due to the effects of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

"Two years ago we were still in the Covid-19 situation and our economy had fallen quite a bit. But thank God the situation according to statistical data is good," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of BI Malang Representative Office, Samsun Hadi, said that his party would open a new money exchange service at the Kartini Building, Jl. Tangkuban Perahu No. 1B, Malang City for six days, namely from April 8-13, 2023.

To anticipate the high public interest, his party will limit the queue quota. "Every day the quota is 1.600 money exchanges. Each person can exchange a maximum of Rp3,8 million, so just multiply it," explained Samsun.

Apart from the Kartini Building, Samsun said that his party together with other banks will also open similar services at several locations in Malang City.

"Banking friends have prepared 109 outlets in our work area to serve the community. BI also has two mobile cash exchange cars to markets and crowded areas," he explained again.

For information on money exchange ahead of Eid 2023, BI Malang will periodically provide information via BI Malang social media. This is done to make it easier for the public to monitor every information provided by BI Malang. (iu/yon)
