Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) held a Ramadan Cheap Market as a form of commitment to controlling inflation in the yard of the Kartini Building, Tangkuban Perahu Street, Malang City, Monday (10/4/2023). The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, officially opened the cheap market which was combined with new money exchange services by the BI Malang Representative Office for six days from 8-13 April 2023.

This Ramadan Cheap Market received high enthusiasm from residents, as evidenced by the large number of residents who filled the cheap market area since morning even before the event opened. In this market, people can buy various commodities at prices below market prices.
Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji said that this cheap market is a manifestation of the Malang City Government's efforts to control people's purchasing power and control inflation. Sutiaji said that achieving food security and economic security is the result of strong collaboration and acceleration from all stakeholders.
"We are trying our best to share by inviting all parties. There is no need to worry, the availability of basic necessities is still sufficient. There should be no panic buying that will cause shortages of goods," said the number one person in the Malang City Government.
The Mayor of Malang also invited all parties to strengthen their commitment to controlling inflation. As is known, Malang City is one of the areas that is able to control inflation. Based on the BPS release, Malang City in March 2023 experienced monthly inflation month to month (m-to-m) of 0,42 percent. "Our inflation is among the lowest in East Java. Hopefully we will continue to strengthen it so that our inflation is good. That is your contribution," said Sutiaji.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade Service (Diskopindag) of Malang City, Eko Sri Yuliadi, S.Sos, MM revealed that the holding of the cheap market was not only to control inflation, but also to maintain the stability of staple food prices, "This cheap market is intended to meet the needs of the community, especially to welcome Eid al-Fitr and to increase people's purchasing power during the economic recovery period after the Covid-19 pandemic," he explained.
The plan is, Diskopindag will hold a cheap market until the Eid. In this Ramadan Cheap Market, there are 35 stalls selling various commodities needed by the community. By involving various related agencies, various commodities sold include rice, shallots, garlic, granulated sugar, cooking oil, eggs, chicken and beef, wheat flour, vegetables and fruits.
In addition, various UMKM products from all over Malang City are also marketed, including UMKM products fostered by TP PKK Malang City, ranging from culinary to clothing products. TP PKK Malang City also sells various pans, all of which are priced at one price, namely Rp10.000. (ari/yon)
