Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Having successfully won the overall championship at the March to Glory Volume 2 Malang Mayor's Cup 2023 some time ago, Malang City boxers must not be complacent and careless in preparing themselves to appear at the East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) VIII 2023 which is scheduled to be held in Sidoarjo Raya (Sidoarjo, Jombang, Mojokerto Regency, Mojokerto City).
Malang City boxing coach, Romeo Surba, said that the success of Malang City's young boxers who appeared in the 2023 Malang Mayor's Cup was indeed a joy in itself. However, he said that Malang City boxers should not be careless, because the competition in the East Java VIII Porprov will clearly be even tighter. "In the 2023 Malang Mayor's Cup, our boxers have performed well, but there is still a lot that needs to be improved," said Romeo, Wednesday (12/4/2023).
From the experience of handling young boxers, Romeo said, usually the graph of their performance always goes up and down. For that, a special approach is needed so that the boxers of Malang City continue to perform well in various championships, including in the East Java Porprov VIII.
"It's not just a matter of technique that needs to be polished, the children's stamina also needs to be improved so they can perform optimally," said Romeo.
Given the current condition is still the month of Ramadan, of course the boxers of Malang City still cannot be pushed to the maximum for physical training. "After Lebaran, it will be maximized even more," he added.
In line with Romeo Surba, the General Chairperson of Pertina Malang City, Yiyesta Ndaru Abadi, admitted that the 2023 Malang Mayor's Cup yesterday was not the only reference for seeing the map of the strength of boxing athletes who will appear in the VIII Porprov, but it can be used as a little picture.
"The achievement in the Malang Mayor's Cup yesterday was very good to improve the children's mentality and self-confidence. In the future, it must be improved again to be able to achieve in Porprov VIII," said Yesta.
In the upcoming East Java VIII Porprov 2023, Yesta targets at least Malang City boxers to win four golds. Therefore, harder work and synergy from various parties are needed to once again raise boxing achievements in Malang City. (cah/yon)
