Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – Bullying or harassment still often occurs in educational environments. Currently, various efforts have been made to prevent and handle bullying in educational environments to make educational environments that are Roots Day. One of them is through activities Roots Day which was carried out at State Middle School 2, Malang City, Saturday (15/4/2023).

The Head of MTsN 2 Malang City, KH. Mokhamad Amin Tohari, S.Ag, M.Pd said that Roots Day is the peak of Prevention activities Bullying after the change agent students were trained by the facilitator for 15 meetings.
"As is Roots Day"God willing, MTsN 2 Malang City will be increasingly committed to preventing bullying and realizing Madrasati Jannati," he said.
Appreciation was given by UNICEF Indonesia Child Protection Staff, Fauzia Firdanisa when giving a speech. "In the implementation of Roots Day, MTs Negeri 2 Malang City can be an example of a Child-Friendly Madrasah and can be a safe, comfortable, and violence-free madrasah as My Madrasah, My Heaven," she explained.
Fauzia also gave appreciation to the students who are agents of change and all the students and teachers who have fought for a better change. "And have even vowed to try to maintain harmony and peace in the madrasah loudly," she added.
Support was also conveyed by the Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office of Malang City, KH. Achmad Shampton, S.HI, MH, who was also present on this occasion. "We fully support this Roots program. Furthermore, it will be developed to madrasahs under us in Malang City," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Institutional and Cooperation Section of KSKK Kemenag RI Dr. Riska Puspitasari, M.Pd on this occasion revealed that her party promised to disseminate this program to all madrasahs. She conveyed that Kemenag RI fully supports the implementation of the Positive Discipline Program (DISPO) and Roots (Bullying Prevention Program) which are implemented in ten madrasahs in East Java, Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
Likewise, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, also gave his appreciation and support for the Roots program, which he said was very good. "Bullying must be fought and must not happen. This is in accordance with the third vision of Malang City, namely to realize a harmonious and tolerant Malang City based on diversity and support for gender-vulnerable communities," said the Mayor of Malang.
He said that reducing bullying in Malang City had been mandated in the Malang City RPJMD and had become one of the commitments to protect vulnerable groups and protect the community.
Not only commitment, the bespectacled man said that Malang City also continues to strive to realize itself as a child-friendly city. Moreover, according to him, bad behavior is prone to being imitated. "So there must be vigilance by all parties, including teachers," he said again.
He also hopes that through this activity, all parties of the madrasah will continue to support the implementation of the Roots program. "So that madrasati jannati, my safe and comfortable madrasah without violence and bullying," he concluded.
In this activity, change agent students campaigned for positive behavior and anti-bullying messages to the madrasa community through various works of art such as drama, poetry, and also the Bullying Prevention Pledge. In addition, the results of the change agent activities during 15 meetings were also displayed, such as posters, infographics, photo booth, and conveying anti-bullying messages by filling the Tree of Hope and the Box of Change.
Roots Day at MTsN 2 Malang City, it was attended by all school residents, teachers, committees and Islamic boarding school managers, representatives of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion, representatives of the East Java Ministry of Religion Regional Office, Head of the Malang City Ministry of Religion Office, representatives of parents of students, UNICEF and partners.
'Roots Day' is a bullying prevention campaign activity initiated by student agents of change. Student agents of change are chosen by other students because they are considered to be the ones who interact the most with their peers.
These change agent students become pioneers in spreading messages and become examples in the madrasah environment, especially to their peers. This program is a collaboration between UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) Indonesia and the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia through the Child Protection Agency (LPA) Klaten, Central Java and the Indonesian Education Innovation Training and Consulting Institute (LPIKIPI) East Java.
