Malang (malangkota.go.id) – During the 2023 Eid Transportation period, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operation Area (Daop) 8 Surabaya has prepared all aspects to serve customers optimally. Covering human resources, facilities, infrastructure, and other things related to overall service.
Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, Luqman Arif, Sunday (23/4/2023) said, for the HR aspect, all operational officers such as machinists and assistant machinists are ready to comply with the SOP, and are sure to serve customers wholeheartedly. KAI consistently prioritizes safety, security, and comfort to make homecoming by train safe and memorable.
In terms of safety, there is a strict preparation process that must be carried out by the driver and assistant driver before carrying out their duties. The series of preparations are KAI's efforts to ensure that the driver and assistant driver are in prime condition when on duty during the 2023 Eid Transportation period.
If the engineer or assistant engineer does not meet the requirements, then he cannot continue his duties and will be replaced by replacement personnel. Furthermore, Luqman Arif said that one of the keys to train safety is a strict assessment of the railway crew, in this case the engineer and assistant engineer.
"Machinists and assistant machinists must arrive 45 minutes early to make various preparations. After filling out the attendance list, machinists and assistant machinists must undergo several health checks, such as body temperature and blood pressure, and conduct an assessment with the service supervisor in the form of an interview," he added.
During the assessment with the supervisor, Luqman said, the engineer and assistant engineer will be asked several questions, and will take a test to name the railway slogan. Furthermore, after the assessment process is complete, the engineer and assistant engineer will receive documents and travel equipment and sign or read out official statements.
In addition, before carrying out their duties, the engineer and assistant engineer must also see, read, and understand the announcements and instructions at the UPT PT KAI office. Luqman Arif emphasized that these preparations are a process that must be gone through as one of the keys to KAI train safety to ensure that the engineer and assistant engineer are in prime condition when on duty during the 2023 Eid Transportation period and on their daily duties.
If the engineer and assistant engineer are deemed unprepared or do not meet one of the requirements, then they will be immediately exchanged with other personnel. The long series of processes that must be gone through by the engineer and assistant engineer are proof that KAI prioritizes train travel by preparing the best railway crew to deliver customers safely to their destination stations, as well as making homecoming by train safe and memorable.
