Klojen (malangkota.go.id)– The Malang City Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) held a halalbihalal with the extended family of the Malang City Education and Culture Office at the Disdikbud hall, Jl Veteran No. 19 Malang City, Wednesday (4/5/2023).
Head of the Malang City Education and Culture Office, Suwarjana, SE, MM, said that this halalbihalal was held to strengthen ties within the Education and Culture Office, both among active and retired staff.
"So far, there has been no one to accommodate retired fathers/mothers. Therefore, here we are holding this event, and asking for direction from the Mayor (of Malang City) to unite the big family of Disdikbud," he explained.
The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, also welcomed and appreciated the holding of this halalbihalal. In his direction, Sutiaji mentioned that there were still some homework for the world of education in Malang City, including the Merdeka Belajar curriculum and the discourse on the recruitment of Non-Permanent Teachers (GTT) or honorary teachers which were eliminated.
Sutiaji assessed that the policy regarding the limitation of GTT is indeed necessary, especially if the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar curriculum has been fully implemented. However, aspirations from the community also need to be seen and considered, especially existing GTT so that they can be prioritized to be appointed as Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK).
"Even so, but please still have to see the aspirations of the community. If the cascading area is correct and the needs have been mapped, the real needs, then please consider it to be appointed as PPPK," said the bespectacled man.
The reason why GTT should be prioritized to become PPPK, he said, is because they already have competencies that are measurable by the principal. According to him, with the PPPK system which is a contract worker, later the work contract will be adjusted to the competency of the teaching staff.
"Because PPPK is a contract, it will be adjusted later. If it does not meet the required competencies, the contract will not be extended," he explained again.
Furthermore, the number one person in the Malang City Government said that later, when the Merdeka Belajar curriculum has been fully implemented, the level of need for teaching staff at each level will be reviewed again.
"From there we can see the ratio, one teacher can teach how many students. Only then will restrictions be implemented. Later, when there are teachers who retire, if GTT recruitment is not allowed, then there will be teachers who double, we will make it efficient. With Merdeka Belajar, students don't have to be waited on all the time," he said. (iu/yon)
