Malang Plaza Traders Start Saving Remaining Goods

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The fourth day after the Malang Plaza Mall fire disaster located on Jalan KH Agus Salim, Malang City, on Thursday (4/5/2023) kiosk owners were finally allowed to enter the fire area to save the remaining goods. Previously, dozens of kiosk owners met with representatives of Malang Plaza management and police officers to negotiate.

In the end, the kiosk owners were given permission but with a number of requirements and agreements, such as filling out forms and attaching identification. On the first day, it was only intended for four kiosk owners on the 1st floor and those who had safes. There was one more gold shop owner also on the 1st floor who was allowed to enter today.

This was conveyed by the Klojen Police Chief, Commissioner Syabain Rahmad Kusriyanto when met in the area of ​​the 3-story building that burned down on Tuesday (2/5). Before entering the location, kiosk owners are required to wear helmets, shoes and be accompanied by officers from the BPBD and TNI-Polri. On the second day and thereafter, after the kiosk owners on the first floor are finished, it will be continued for the owners on the 2nd and 3rd floors," he added.

"From the management (Malang Plaza), we have conveyed to create a form for collecting goods so that later there will be no more complaints when after the evacuation is complete, someone reports that their goods have been lost. Police line "The gates are still installed but we still guard residents who enter. The public can still take their belongings according to the order given by management and BPBD," continued Syabain Police Chief.

A similar statement was made by the Head of BPBD Malang City, Prayitno. According to him, all of this is to help the community. "Because the management of Malang Plaza and the police have allowed it, yes, please do," he said.

One of the kiosk owners, Rudianto, said he was happy because he could go in and save his remaining merchandise. Although he suffered losses, he was still grateful because there were still items that could be saved.
