Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The East Java Regional Police Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) Team was hampered by the location being hot when they were going to investigate the Malang Plaza fire location on Jalan KH Agus Salim, Malang City on Wednesday (3/5/2023). On Thursday (4/5/2023), the team returned to the three-story building at 09.50 WIB.
At around 11.45 WIB, the Labfor Team left the location carrying charcoal ash and cables from the building that burned down on Tuesday (2/5/2023) early morning. The ash and cables were taken randomly from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of Malang Plasa.
Head of the East Java Regional Police Labfor Team, Senior Commissioner Joko Siswanto said that the charcoal ash and a number of cables would be examined and tested in the forensic laboratory to find a bright spot that triggered the fire. The test results, said Joko, will be out in the next seven to ten days.
When asked which areas were combed for today, Joko said that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd floors that were damaged were combed to find new fire spreaders. "There are items suspected to be the cause but it will be examined further," he said.
On the fourth day or after today, the Labfor Team plans to visit the location again to continue searching and collecting evidence that is strongly suspected of being the trigger for the fire. In addition, the team will also continue to try to find the location of the first fire and the cause of this fire. (say/yon)
