Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – To realize the acceleration of inclusive development of Malang City, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) together with the Malang City Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) discussed the Draft Regional Regulation (Ranperda) on Gender Mainstreaming in a plenary meeting in the Plenary Session Room of the Malang City DPRD, Thursday (11/5/2023).
Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji revealed that gender mainstreaming (PUG) is included in the third mission of Malang City. "With the existence of this PUG Draft Regional Regulation, we can be more empowered and we can strengthen PUG," explained Sutiaji after the plenary meeting.
The emphasis on the material content regulated in the Draft Regional Regulation on PUG is that every human being, both male and female, is born free and is endowed with the same dignity and status as a creature of God Almighty according to the mandate of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
"The government's efforts in building gender awareness include through media friends by conveying that equality is our obligation. Equality is not only equalizing positions, but also in various processes, involvement in policy making, programs, strategies in the development of Malang City. This shows that we are encouraging gender equality. We must strengthen this," he said.
The PUG Draft Regional Regulation was drafted in order to improve the position, role, and quality of women, as well as an effort to realize gender equality and justice in family, community, and national life. This PUG is a strategy that is considered very necessary to achieve gender equality and justice through empowerment and involvement throughout the development process of Malang City. (yul/yon)
