This procession involved approximately 1.500 participants who paraded 1.900 tumpeng of various creations with a route passing through Jalan Basuki Rahmat and finishing at Malang City Hall. The creativity of utilizing butterfly pea flowers that are often found in Malang City not only makes the appearance of the tumpeng creations more beautiful and unique, but is also good for health.

Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji said that the Kirab Tumpeng event was held in conjunction with Malang Creativa #2 which has a variety of events, ranging from Traditional Sports Competitions, Meatball Festivals, Recycled Fashion Creations to Lantern Festivals.

"The purpose and objective is to invite all the people of Bumi Arema to come together and merge into one unity. This truly shows that Malang belongs to all of us," said Sutiaji.

The bespectacled man further explained that the various series of activities are a manifestation of the spirit of Independent, Resilient and Sustainable which is the theme of the 109th Anniversary of Malang City. From the various events presented, it is hoped that it can further encourage the level of tourist visits, both domestic and foreign to Malang City which is known as a tourist city.

"The philosophy has been conveyed earlier, we also invited cultural figures. So this setting has received recommendations and suggestions from cultural figures, including the tumpeng brought by the participants which was directly distributed to the community. And thank God the community's enthusiasm is extraordinary," he explained.

Hopefully, in the future this tumpeng parade can become a tradition as part of an expression of gratitude for the blessings of God Almighty for the increasing age of Malang City. (yul/yon)
