Malang City Government Reduces Stunting Through Rantang Kasih Program

Klojen (Malang city).go.id) – Various efforts have been made by the Malang City Government (Pemkot) to continue to reduce the stunting rate in Malang City which is currently at 8,4 percent. This time through the rantang kasih program, namely by providing nutritious food three times a day.

This program is usually given to the elderly, but now it will also be applied to children who experience stunting. Thus, children's nutritional needs can be met properly. Moreover, the healthy food menu provided is also in accordance with the fulfillment of children's nutritional standards.

These are some of the things conveyed by the Acting Head of the Social Service, Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning (Dinsos P3AP2KB) of Malang City, Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, Thursday (18/5/2023). She said, if the Central Government wants children who experience stunting given eggs and chicken meat, but the worry is that children may not want to consume them.

"If with treatment such as rantang kasih which requires eating three times a day and in accordance with nutritional standards, that's for sure, unless it's due to genetics," added the woman who once served as Head of the Malang City Youth and Sports Agency.

To ensure that the menu can be consumed properly by the child, Ida said that her party will involve the posyandu cadres in the sub-district down to the RT and RW levels. They will be assigned to supervise children who experience stunting.

The love container treatment for stunted children has been applied to two children in Kotalama Village, Kedungkandang District. The results are quite good, where the children's height and weight have increased. "However, development checks will continue to be carried out every month," concluded Ida. (say/yon)
