Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – In a political year like today, the Chairman of the Malang City Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI), Kasuwi Syaiban, appealed to all mosque takmirs not to use or use the mosque as a campaign tool for politicians, and to continue to maintain the mosque as a place of worship and gathering.

Kasuwi conveyed this on Saturday (20/5/2023) when contacted via his cellphone. He emphasized that the mosque is not a place for campaigning and is indeed prohibited, because in addition to having a bad impact, those who campaign in the mosque will also be sanctioned by the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu).
"So far there have been no reports related to this matter. However, all mosque administrators should always be vigilant. Under any pretext, there should be no political elements in the mosque," he said.
Kasuwi added that his party will continue to provide education and socialization to the mosque administrators. Moreover, the number of mosques in Malang City currently reaches almost a thousand.
"We always have socialization related to the prohibition of politics from entering the mosque, and also socialization of various DMI programs to the branches in stages. In addition, we will also take advantage of certain moments, such as during Friday sermons to convey to the community directly, including in relation to Eid al-Adha," explained Kasuwi.
Not only that, they have also created a group to facilitate communication together. If later suspicious activity is found, it can be immediately detected and followed up.
When asked about the possibility of mosque administrators or takmirs plunging into politics, he emphasized that they should not bring their political party's mission into mosques, let alone influence the congregation in the mosque. (say/yon)
