Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The 2023 Pelangi Nusantara Short Film Competition held by the Malang City National Unity and Politics Agency (Bakesbangpol) was attended by 28 participants divided into two categories, namely students and students/general.

At the night of the short fiction film competition appreciation held at the Malang Creative Center Building, Monday night (22/5/2023), the best four were selected from the two categories of participants. The short film competition is one proof that the creative industry, especially film in Malang City, continues to thrive.
This event received a good response from film creators, and it is hoped that competitions like this will continue to be held. In addition to continuing to foster creativity, through events like this will also spur the spirit of related parties to support the growth and development of the film world.
Muhammad Fathir, assistant director of the film entitled 'Bangkit' which won first place in the 2023 Pelangi Nusantara Short Film Competition for the student category, said that the more often there are competitions, the more interesting the level of creativity and stories carried will be.
For the film work brought to this competition, Fathir admitted that he completed it with ten of his school friends. This film, he said, tells the story of a child who is down, and finally inspired by his friend who has died. So that finally he gets a scholarship from the college he has dreamed of all this time.
For the making of this film, Fathir said it took one day and took locations in several places, such as in Jodipan, at his school, SMK NMC Malang City, Pakis and Wendit. Fathir did not expect that he and his team would win first place, because all the participants had good material.
The same thing was also conveyed by the winner of the first place in the student/general category, Rachmad Samudera from SPRD Production. As an assistant director, he admitted that there was an added value in holding this competition, namely being able to gather again with his colleagues.
He said that this was an extraordinary thing, when he could meet colleagues who had produced films since high school, and now could meet again while studying together in Malang City. The five people who were involved in the production of the film entitled 'Persinggahan' were students at Malang State University, Brawijaya University and UIN Malik Ibrahim.
The film tells the story of two lovers of different religions who cannot be together. When the man dreams of becoming mayor, he is willing even without the woman of his dreams.
As part of the film creators, Fathir and Rachmad hope that the creative industry, especially in the film world, will receive support from various parties in the future, not only the government, but the private sector can also contribute. (say/yon)
