Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji together with Malang Deputy Mayor Ir. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko sent off 698 athletes from the Indonesian Community Recreation Sports Committee (KORMI) who will compete in the East Java Regional Community Sports Festival (FORDA) I. The departure of these athletes was carried out after the implementation of the 115th National Awakening Day ceremony in 2023 in the front yard of Malang City Hall, Tuesday (23/5/2023).
"We already know that Malang City will host FORDA I East Java. We were appointed yesterday because Malang City was ready first. Hopefully we will be the overall champion," hoped Malang Mayor Sutiaji when releasing the contingent.
Malang City athletes will compete in 31 Community Sports Organization (COOM) Branches divided into 109 types of sports. Later, 21 participating regencies/cities with a total of 2.186 contingents of sports activists will compete in FORDA I East Java which will be held for the first time in Malang City.
"Please maintain the good name of Malang City, maintain the philosophy of this sport. One Soul Greeting is not only spoken, but One Soul Greeting is in the pattern of speech, behavior and thoughts. So that we all have one Indonesian soul. There is a meaning of independence, togetherness and solidarity," said the bespectacled man.
The community, including the community in Malang City, he said, has loved sports since long ago. He hopes that the spirit of sports will be more grounded in the land of the arek-arek Malang.
"Why is it placed in Malang City or why is Malang City interested in becoming the host? Because no less than 3.000 to 4.000 personnel are participating, not to mention their families and so on. And they will stay for at least one day but this is starting from May 27 to 30 so four days," he explained.
Second, through this event will be a promotional event and introduce tourism potentials in Malang City. Third, it will drive various economic sectors including MSMEs, homestays and hotels, and culinary. For the venue that will be used in the FORDA I East Java event, Sutiaji said it was ready, where most of the venues are in Malang City.
He further stated that the spirit of sport which also encourages economic revival and movement is in accordance with the theme of the 115th National Awakening Day, namely 'The Spirit to Rise'.
"Alhamdulillah, this is indicated by Indonesia's economic growth which is getting better with year-of-year which is also getting better from last year. Alhamdulillah, Malang City's economic growth is currently at 6,32. Because of that commitment, it is impossible to rise if we are not united. So earlier it was ordered how to encourage the growth of unity and togetherness to support the achievement of our spirit of rising for Indonesia Emas 2045," he concluded. (yul/yon
