Deputy Mayor Inaugurates New Classroom and Culinary Art at Malang National High School

The Deputy Mayor of Malang in his speech expressed his appreciation to SMA Nasional. "We convey our highest appreciation and gratitude to the foundation (SMA Nasional). First for the achievements that have been achieved, and second for their role in advancing education in Malang City," said the Deputy Mayor who is often called Bung Edi.

According to him, the addition of new classrooms and culinary arts This is a manifestation of efforts to develop educational potential in Malang City. Bung Edi said that the process of developing the world of education in Malang City is a long process.

"In the past, precisely in the 80-90s, the government at that time was not able to provide maximum education services to the community. So at that time, various groups from the community were invited to discuss together how to realize maximum education services to the community. From there, private schools emerged in Malang City," he said.

Bung Edi said that from this process, Malang City was slowly trusted to become the City of Education. "This is a long process and needs to be maintained. When education in Malang is of high quality, and is widely known throughout the archipelago, more and more parents will entrust their children to go to school in Malang," he explained again.

Even so, Bung Edi also admitted that efforts to educate the lives of the people of Malang City are not easy. For example, the current phenomenon that is clearly visible is that there are still many children who drop out of school. Therefore, in an effort to overcome this problem, the Malang City Government continues to strive to provide stimulation to the community in the form of assistance, especially for children who drop out of school.

"We have budgeted funds in the Social and Community Affairs Section of the Malang City Regional Secretariat to provide subsidies in the form of scholarships for children who cannot afford to continue their education, either high school or college. We have also collaborated with various universities in Malang City," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Principal of SMA Nasional, Soni Syarifuddin, S.Pd., said that the construction of new classrooms and culinary arts rooms was one of the efforts to realize the Independent Learning Curriculum which is currently being intensified in Malang City.

"Through the Merdeka Belajar curriculum, there is something unique, namely the inclusion of vocational skills in high school education, so we tried to include that," he explained.

Soni hopes that with the construction of these new spaces, students will be more comfortable and can develop their creativity, especially in culinary arts.

"Hopefully the students can develop their creativity and we look forward to their superior products, so that they can echo the name of SMA Nasional Malang in the eyes of the public," he concluded. (iu/yon)
