Prevent and Handle Stunting, Mayor of Malang Invites for Complete Work

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Until now, out of a total of 37 thousand toddlers in Malang City, as many as 3.222 or around 8,9 percent of them are in the stunting category. In relation to this, the Malang City Government has made various efforts to continue to reduce the stunting rate to a minimum. One of them is by collaborating with various parties.

This was conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji when he was a resource person in the Early Detection of Stunting Prevention by the Community at the Savana Hotel, Malang City, Wednesday (31/5/2023). According to him, the steps taken are not only for handling, but also prevention.

As in this event which involved more than 400 stunting prevention cadres from various elements, including village posyandu cadres, Muslim and Aisyah mothers, Muhammadiyah youth, and volunteers. From this provision, they are expected to play an active role in their respective environments.

The bespectacled man further said that by collaborating and clearly organizing tasks, it is hoped that the cadres can work thoroughly. "In the stunting prevention mission, cooperation is also carried out with the KUA or the Ministry of Religion. So that prospective brides and grooms get literacy about the steps that must be taken before starting a household," he explained.

"After marriage, they will receive assistance from nutritionists and obstetricians to plan their pregnancy. When the baby is born, the posyandu cadres will also provide special assistance. Thus, the baby will become a healthy generation and avoid stunting," said the number one person in the Malang City Government.

To continue to suppress the stunting rate, the Mayor of Malang said that collaboration with other regional agencies was also carried out, such as the Social Service, Food Security, Population and Civil Registration Service, and Public Works Service for the preparation of sanitation and clean water. "With all that, the complete work in preventing and handling stunting can run optimally," concluded Sutiaji. (say/yon)
