Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Poetry is a literary work/variety whose language is bound by rhythm, meter, rhyme and the arrangement of stanzas and lines. Poetry also has beautiful rhymes that make many people become poetry lovers.
How to deliver poetry, besides being written to be read, there are several ways used to deliver poetry, namely poetry declamation, poetry performance, and reading poetry. In poetry performances, it is usually in the form of poetry dramatization and poetry musicalization which is very interesting.
This musicalization of poetry is what the Sanggar Aksara Community (Sangkar) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) is trying to present to enrich the choices in enjoying poetry so that it is not boring.
Miftahul Huda, one of the members of the UMM Sangkar Community, explained that the Sangkar Community was formed around 2018. This community is a forum for literary arts students of the Indonesian Language Study Program.
"We recently performed a musicalization of poetry at the MCC Building in Malang City during the book review of 'Cahaya di Balik Jeruji' on Monday (22/5/2023)," explained Huda, Friday (2/6/2023).
Huda said, by combining music in poetry reading, the experience of enjoying poetry can be more interesting and uplifting. The rhythm of music that accompanies poetry can also provide clarity in conveying the poet's message to the audience.
The Sangkar Community itself initially started from a small acting and monologue class at UMM. Their presence is getting stronger because they often appear in various events that can develop their abilities.
The MCC building also became an important place for the Sangkar Community. Through various performances at the MCC, they can gain more experience to actualize themselves. As a student from Madura Island, Huda is very happy with the presence of the MCC, because it can contribute more to society through public space to work and explore creative potential.
Since its establishment, the Sangkar Community has appeared in various events, both in Malang City and outside the region. The diversity of student backgrounds that are members of the Sangkar community also provides a variety of colors to this community, so that they can enjoy and understand various tribes and cultures.
