Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian said that the Religious and National Holiday (HBKN) Eid al-Adha does not have the potential to increase inflation. He conveyed this at the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting, Monday (19/6/2023).

"It is predicted that there will be no significant potential inflation push during Eid al-Adha. Based on previous years' experience, the dominant contributors to inflation during Eid al-Adha are chilies and shallots. Then, the thing that needs to be watched out for is the price of live cattle and goats which have always increased from 2019 to 2022, although it is temporary," explained Minister Tito.
The inflation pattern during the Eid al-Adha celebration is indeed not as high as inflation during the Ramadan and Lebaran periods. During the Eid al-Adha celebration, the level of public consumption tends not to increase significantly, so it does not drive the potential for inflation due to demand. Like last year's Eid al-Fitr which drove inflation up to 0,33 percent (mtm), while during Eid al-Adha inflation was only at 0,09 percent.
"We still need to anticipate, especially this Eid al-Adha holiday, so that prices and services remain stable," added Minister Tito.
Meanwhile, when met after attending the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting virtually from the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) Room, Malang City Hall, Monday (19/6/2023) Head of the Economic, Infrastructure, and Natural Resources (PISDA) Section of the Malang City Secretariat, Ir. Eny Handayani, M.Si revealed that nationally the availability of livestock for sacrifice is currently sufficient for the needs of Eid al-Adha.
Eny also said that the local government must also pay attention to the number of livestock stocks used as sacrificial animals later. So that the amount of needs will be known, and how much is available. Thus, if there is a region that lacks stock, it can work together with other regions to be able to meet these needs.
"From the results of the National Food Task Force, it was conveyed that currently the availability exceeds the needs. According to the direction of the Minister of Home Affairs, the regions are asked to see the distribution. We will also coordinate with the Food Security and Agriculture Service, including anticipation related to animal health, especially because there are still foot and mouth disease (PMK) and LSD," explained Eny.
