Malang Mayor Encourages Acceleration of WTP Development

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Various efforts have been made by the Malang City Government to meet the water needs of its citizens. One of them is by collaborating with Perumda Tugu Tirta and Perusahaan Umum (Perum) Jasa Tirta (PJT) 1 to build a Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) in Malang City.

Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji emphasized that there must be acceleration in development

The 500 liter per second (lps) SPAM will be fulfilled gradually by utilizing the surface water of the Bango River in Pandanwangi Village, Blimbing District. Raw water from the river will be processed by PJT 1 through the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) or Water Treatment Installation (IPA).

"The need for clean water is increasing day by day. This is a basic human need, so what we do contains the value of worship. That's why we also invite regional apparatuses in charge to be able to support the acceleration of this WTP development project," he said.

Sutiaji also instructed the parties involved to have a 'plan B', so that if the target cannot be achieved according to plan, other plans or procedures can be carried out. "Please also have another simulation when our plan, even though we have carried out various approaches based on science, needs to have other options in case our plan is not appropriate or deviates," he requested.

Met after attending the meeting, the Director of Perumda Tugu Tirta, M. Nor Muhlas said that his party would immediately complete all the requirements needed to support all licensing processes, one of which is the payment of land rent to the Malang City Government.

"This is the commitment of the regional head to be able to immediately realize the WTP plan so that it can be in accordance with the timeline that has been set. The Mayor (of Malang City) encouraged us to speed up the process. Including all the permits, so that when the infrastructure is built, water can be directly distributed to the community," he said.
