Pasuruan (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City delegation beautifully performed the Sekar Duta Budaya Dance as a cultural offering typical of Bumi Arema in the Cultural Parade which was part of the 18th Regional Commissariat IV Working Meeting of the Association of Indonesian City Governments (Apeksi) in 2023, in Pasuruan City, Thursday (22/6/2023).
At this moment, the Malang City Cultural Parade group was led directly by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji together with the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko and the Chairperson of the Malang City PKK TP, Hj. Widayati Sutiaji together with the Chairperson I of the Malang City PKK TP, Ely Estiningtyas.
Head of the Malang City Education and Culture Agency (Disdikbud), Suwarjana, SE, MM explained that the Sekar Duta Budaya Dance is one of the dances created by the Malang City Cultural Ambassadors.
"This dance is a paired dance with dashing movements and typical Malang melodies that depict the figure of young men and women from Malang City who love their regional culture," explained Suwarjana.
He further explained that this dance tells the story of the struggle of the Malang youth in preserving Malang's arts and culture with a sense of courage, responsibility, and good character.
"The spirit of these young people must continue to rise to revive the image of Malang art which must be preserved for future generations," he explained.
Not only the Sekar Duta Budaya Dance performed by selected young people of Malang City in preserving Malangan culture that attracted the attention of the regional heads who were present. The delegation of Malang City also attracted the attention of thousands of residents who lined up to watch through typical Malangan clothing and Arema cheers. Not surprisingly, dozens of residents took advantage of the moment to take pictures together. (yul/yon)
