Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – The construction of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) or Water Treatment Installation (IPA) in Pandanwangi Village, Blimbing District has begun. Marking the start of this construction, the Groundbreaking of the Integrated Work on the Construction of the Bango 200 LPS Water Treatment Installation (IPA) was carried out, Monday (26/6/2023).

The Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Regional Public Company (Perumda) Tugu Tirta Drinking Water is working together with the Public Company (Perum) Jasa Tirta I to meet the community's water needs. The construction of the Bango IPA is expected to be a solution to the need for raw water in Malang City.
"Today we are doing the groundbreaking or laying of the first stone to fulfill the 200 lps in 2023. Insyaallah in August there will be 100 lps. Once this is completed, hopefully it can be used immediately so that the anxiety due to the dead water flow has a solution," explained the Mayor of Malang while attending the laying of the first stone.
Sutiaji said that his party prioritizes the realization of raw water independence and supports the 100-0-100 Movement, namely 100 percent access to clean drinking water, 0 percent slums, and 100 percent access to clean sanitation. It is planned that there will be a total of 500 lps that will be built in collaboration with PJT 1. He said that Malang City has the potential to have a source of raw water by utilizing surface water.
"We are crossed by five rivers. Our rivers are extraordinary, so hopefully our water needs will be met. We also encourage Perumda Tugu Tirta to optimize management. We think that this is a public company, but what is made is water as a basic need. So we do not trade water but our business is to support the water needs of the community," added the number one person in the Malang City Government.
Meanwhile, Director of Jasa Tirta 1, Fahmi Hidayat said that his party as an extension of the government is trying to actively participate in supporting the Malang City Government to realize raw water independence in Malang City. The challenges ahead are that the potential for conflict, climate change and as certainly demands that we realize this independence.
"Water is vital and needed for all life activities. The state has an obligation to fulfill the needs of every citizen for water needs," concluded Fahmi.
Fahmi also said, as directed by President Jokowi to realize the vision of Golden Indonesia in 2045, one of them demands resilience to water resources. (ari/yon)
