Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Ahead of the revitalization of the Wilis Book Market, traders are preparing to occupy the relocation site which is located right in front of the book market or which is usually used as a parking lot.
Of the 36 planned stalls, 18 have now been built, each measuring 1,5x2 meters. From monitoring at the location, Wednesday (5/7/2023), a number of traders were seen preparing the stalls.
Sunardi, one of the traders when met said that the relocation process of the traders was divided into two stages. His party is one of the traders who will occupy the relocation in the first stage. He said that during the new school year like now there are many buyers and it is the harvest time for traders. However, his party just gave up, considering that the revitalization process is not finished yet.
When asked about the size of the stall, according to Sunardi, it is actually smaller than his original place which was 2x3 meters. Even so, he did not really mind and hoped to be able to reap smooth fortune.
Andri said the same thing. He also hopes that the Wilis Book Market will be more crowded and get more visitors after the revitalization. Moreover, he admitted that the condition of buyers has not fully recovered.
"From this stall, it is possible that the books I sell cannot all be displayed. Well, what else can I do, maybe I will bring home some books," said Andri.
Related to this, the Head of Diskopindag of Malang City, Eko Sri Yuliadi said that this revitalization was carried out for the convenience of traders. According to him, if the book market on Jalan Wilis is good, then there will be more visitors and the turnover of traders will increase significantly.
Regarding the relocation site, Eko asked the traders to be patient. The relocation is also around the market, so if there is a decline in sales, it is likely not much. "If the books cannot be displayed all, it can be worked around. For example, if previously you could display five books, for the time being three first," he concluded. (say/yon)
