Malang (malangkota.go.id) – Not everyone who can drive or own a vehicle knows how to maintain a vehicle, especially for women. Moreover, currently, there are still many stereotypes that say that women can only use vehicles but do not know how to maintain them.

Responding to this, Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) M. Irkham Mamungkas, ST., MT. said that understanding how to maintain motor vehicles is important.
"I often meet many drivers who are confused about how to maintain their engines. Several times I met women who ran out of gas on the road, riding a motorbike or car with gas then suddenly braking suddenly and others. Those things are actually not good for engine performance," said the man who is familiarly called Irkham.
Even if someone doesn't know much about the ins and outs of motor vehicles, the basics of maintenance should be owned by a driver. Starting from how to use the machine to regular maintenance, both for cars and motorbikes.
"Cars and motorcycles do require different maintenance, but they are basically the same. For example, before use, the vehicle engine needs to be warmed up first. Don't just use it and rev it. This is a simple and easy thing but is often overlooked," he added.
In addition, Irkham also conveyed the importance of changing oil and servicing regularly. Likewise with checking tire pressure. If ignored, this can have fatal consequences, even causing accidents.
"The front and rear tire pressures have different numbers. This is important to note. In addition to safety and performance reasons, this can maintain the quality of the rims and can extend the life of the rims," he explained again.
Another important thing in maintaining a motor vehicle is to not let the vehicle run out of gas. Although it does not damage the entire vehicle engine directly, this negligence makes the performance of the car or motorbike decrease.
In addition, if the vehicle sounds noisy, it should be checked and serviced immediately, because it can be worrying and it can be ascertained that there are components that are damaged.
"Usually if this happens, it means there is a part that needs to be replaced or cleaned. If you want your vehicle to last long, you also have to be careful when using it, especially for female drivers who are often considered not to pay attention to their cars or motorbikes," he concluded. (say/yon)
