Jakarta (malangkota.go.id) – Right on the commemoration of the 76th National Cooperative Day, the Indonesian Cooperative Council (DEKOPIN) gave awards to cooperative people. One of them is the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji who is considered to have contributed to fostering and developing cooperatives in Indonesia, especially in Malang City.

Dekopin Award 2023 which was held at the GBK Senayan Indoor Tennis Building, Tuesday (12/7/2023), the Mayor of Malang received an award as the Patron of the Leading Cooperative represented by the Expert Staff for Law, Government and Politics of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Tabrani, SH, M.Hum.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, who was unable to attend on the sidelines of his official activities, said that this award is a motivation to further encourage cooperatives to be more empowered and become the mainstay of the national economy.
In line with the theme of this year's Cooperative Day Commemoration, namely 'Cooperative Advancement, Key to Community Welfare', the role of cooperatives is expected to participate in building the community's economy. "If the management is good, it is expected to be able to improve the welfare of its members and be more competitive. Especially the presence of cooperatives for the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)," he said.
According to Sutiaji, the involvement of cooperatives to support the increase of MSMEs in Malang City is very important. For example, in terms of lending funds as capital for MSME actors to develop their businesses. In its development, cooperatives are also expected to be a place to market local products.
Furthermore, Sutiaji encouraged the development of cooperative businesses by utilizing digital technology. "Cooperatives must also be able to follow current trends, digitalization, utilizing technology that aims to facilitate its members. Therefore, cooperatives must innovate," he concluded. (ari/yon)
