Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – It is undeniable that waste is a problem faced by every country, including Indonesia. However, this problem has encouraged the birth of various waste management initiatives into alternative materials that have benefits and economic value.

One of them is the plastic waste management initiative by UBTech in collaboration with Robries, which has succeeded in processing plastic waste into attractive furniture and accessories.
One of Robries' workers, Ilham Akbar, said that with good handling, plastic waste such as bottle caps can be transformed into attractive furniture. In this case, Robries has implemented it and even through the factory in Sidoarjo has carried out mass production.
"By shredding plastic into pellets, melting, pressing and opening, Robries has succeeded in making various furniture from plastic waste," said Ilham, Friday (14/7/2023).
Ilham said that various works made from plastic waste from Robries were exhibited in Malang City in an exhibition with the Malang City Environmental Service (DLH) at the Malang Creative Center (MCC) Malang City. Through the exhibition, he said, it could be a place to educate students, college students and the community as a whole.
With proper waste processing, Robries has proven that it can meet various requests for furniture made from recycled plastic materials to various regions in Indonesia and has even exported recycled plastic furniture to Italy.
Robries itself is a business that focuses on making furniture and interior products from recycled plastic. By making it a business, it is real proof that plastic waste has valuable value.
"Robries provides an example of processing plastic waste into quality products that can be used every day," said Ilham.
He said that when plastic waste is recycled into furniture and home decorations, its economic value will automatically increase. "This is proof that recycling can be part of the solution to handling plastic waste, becoming a job opportunity and reducing the volume of waste disposed of at the Final Disposal Site (TPA)," said Ilham.
