Klojen (Malangkota.go.id) – The Disability Market (Dismart) of the Malang City Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) provided assistance to hone the skills of Children with Special Needs (ABK) in making mask media at the Malang City DPRD Building, Thursday (20/7/2023).
The Head of Dismart DPRD of Malang City, Joko Randy, revealed that the activities at the DPRD of Malang City with ABK are routine activities that aim to provide assistance to ABK so that they can be more independent and able to build businesses. "Today, the activity is to train children with disabilities to make masks," he explained, on Thursday (20/7/2023).
He said that this training is a series of activities initiated by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) which in September 2023 will have a mask coloring festival for all ABK from Malang Raya.
"This activity was attended by children with special needs from 28 institutions in Malang Raya. The total participants were 48 children, 48 parents and 48 companions," said Joko.
The hope is that these ABK can be independent, skilled in making works, and there is equality between non-disabled and disabled people. So when these ABK can make masks, in the future there will be more assistance when they return to their respective schools and can teach their peers. "Through masks, children are also invited to love our culture," said Joko.
The character that was used as learning on this occasion, Joko mentioned was the Sekartaji mask. Actually, the color is white, but because the moment is welcoming the month of August 2023, the colors used are red and white. (cah/yon)
