Preserving Culture Through the Offerings Larung Labuh River Brantas

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Brantas River Festival #2 series entitled Larung Sesaji Labuh Brantas River was held in Grabah Penanggungan Village, Jl. MT Panjaitan Gang 18 C, Klojen District, Malang City, Sunday (23/07/2023). The Brantas River Festival #2 which was held in seven Thematic Tourism Villages in Malang City was held to commemorate National River Day 2023.

Head of the Department of Youth and Sports, Tourism and Creative Economy Baihaqi, S.Pd., SE, M.Si., CGCAE opened the Larung Sesaji Labuh Kali Brantas event which was held in Grabah Penanggungan Village

The Head of the Tourism Awareness Group Communication Forum (Pokdarwis), Isa Wahyudi explained that the Larung Sesaji Labuh Kali Brantas presents a series of interesting events, starting from the larung sesaji parade, larung sesaji Kali Brantas, ngumbah grabah, petik belik, ciblon, dolanan arek grabah, drawing grabah and a grabah bazaar as well as culinary delights from Kali Brantas.

"The dancers descend into the river carrying containers or pottery filled with fish. They perform the Larung Sesaji Labuh Kali ritual accompanied by gamelan music," he explained.

In addition to being an interesting tourist event to invite people to travel to the river, the man who is familiarly called Ki Demang said that this event aims to preserve culture and instill a love for rivers so that through this activity it is hoped that people will become more aware of how to care for rivers so that their sustainability and cleanliness are maintained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Youth, Sports and Tourism Agency (Kadisporapar) of Malang City, Baihaqi, S.Pd., SE, M.Si., CGCAE who was present at the Larung Sesaji Labuh Kali Brantas event expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the Kali Brantas Festival #2.

"This is one form of our gratitude, how we unite with nature, how we preserve nature, hopefully this activity will receive blessings from God Almighty. What we will float is fish, one of the creations that should live side by side with us in this river," he explained.

He further revealed that this event will be one that will continue to be developed, because the Brantas River not only divides and flows through Malang City, but also 14 regencies/cities in East Java. The hope is that from this festival the tagline from Malang for Indonesia and the World can be increasingly realized. (yul/yon)
