Secretary of DLH Malang City, Sony Bachtiar, SE, MM said that this activity is a routine agenda carried out every year. According to him, this is an effort by the Malang City Government (Pemkot) in realizing a clean environment, by monitoring exhaust emissions from motor vehicles.

"This is part of the government's efforts to monitor or monitor how much contribution gas emissions result from motor vehicle activities," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Environmental Management Division of the Malang City Environmental Agency, Tri Santoso, S.Si., M.AP., M.IDS said that throughout 2021-2022, Malang City experienced La Nina and unpredictable weather conditions including heavy rain which resulted in potential disasters such as fallen trees and floods. This is suspected to be one of the effects of daily exhaust emissions, including exhaust from motor vehicles.

"Therefore, the Malang City Government conducted this emission test with the aim of detecting the quality of exhaust gas whether it is in accordance with the standard or not. If not, a recommendation is made to conduct a check related to emissions in accordance with what is permitted," he said.

With this emission test, the man who is familiarly called Trisant hopes that the community will be able to form a mindset to protect the environment starting from each individual. According to him, many things that we do every day have an impact on the environment. "This is precisely what we want to aim for, how the community has a mindset that weather changes can occur due to the effects of what we do," he said.

The emission test itself is planned to be carried out from 08.00 WIB-16.00 WIB. The plan is, each vehicle sample tested will take approximately 3-5 minutes per vehicle. The emission test will be carried out on two types of vehicles, namely gasoline and diesel fueled vehicles. For diesel fuel, the test duration can be longer because the checking process can be up to 3 times.

Later, the test results will be submitted to each driver. In addition, these results will also be entered through the Langit Biru application. It is expected that as many as 3.000 samples will be collected from this activity in accordance with the technical implementation instructions. In addition to measuring emissions, roadside air quality measurements are also carried out, as well as traffic performance surveys. (iu/yon)
