Thousands of Alcoholic Beverages Secured by Officers During Operation Pekat

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Cross-sector personnel from the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), TNI-Polri, Disnaker PMPTSP, Diskopindag, and Malang Customs held a joint operation on Friday night (28/7/2023) until early Saturday morning (29/7/2023). The operation to eradicate social diseases (pekat) targeted a number of night entertainment venues and places selling alcoholic beverages (minol).

Joint Operation, eradicating crime in night entertainment venues and places selling alcoholic beverages

Several nightlife venues visited by officers did not find any violations related to business permits or the sale of alcoholic beverages. However, when officers visited an alcoholic beverage shop on Jalan Borobudur, officers secured 3.298 bottles of type B and C liquor that did not comply with the permit. The shop owner had a permit as a distributor but in practice also sold retail.

This was conveyed by the Head of Public Order and Security (Kabid KKU) of Malang City Satpol PP, Rahmat Hidayat after leading the joint operation. He said that the shop owner also did not have other legalities, such as a business registration number and a statement of commitment to environmental management and monitoring.

The alcoholic beverages worth more than Rp1 billion were then secured by officers and the business premises were temporarily closed. The shop owner was given administrative sanctions, a stern warning and must immediately take care of the appropriate permits.

"The violation is violating Regional Regulation No. 4 of 2020 concerning the Control and Supervision of Alcoholic Beverages and there are commitments that have not been fulfilled by them which are still in process and will be followed up by Customs. The sanction is that we will temporarily close it first, later we will give a warning, administrative sanctions so that it is not repeated. If it turns out that the warning is not heeded, we will give another warning. If it is not heeded, we recommend that the permit be revoked," he said.

The joint operation was held based on reports from the public that until now the circulation of alcoholic beverages is still rampant and is indicated to be not in accordance with the permit or its designation. This joint operation will be held routinely and the public is urged to report to officers if they suspect that there is a sale and circulation of alcoholic beverages that violates the rules.
