How Malang City Food and Agriculture Service Improves Community Nutrition

Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Various steps have been taken by the Malang City Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan) to improve the nutritional value of families, especially children as the next generation of the nation. This time by holding a Fish Processing Diversification Competition and a Non-Rice Non-Wheat Food Consumption Campaign in the front yard of the Mini Block Office of Malang City Hall, Wednesday (2/8/2023).

Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji said this event was to increase the amount of fish consumption in the community. In addition, it is also to improve the community's ability to process food from non-rice and non-wheat raw materials.

Like cassava, corn, breadfruit, sweet potatoes, fish and eggs that are processed into various types of food. "So the source of carbohydrates is not only obtained from rice," added the number one person in the Malang City Government.

Thus, the Mayor of Malang said that the nutritional level of families, especially children as the next generation of the nation, continues to improve significantly. "During 2021, the fish consumption rate was 45,75 percent and in 2022 it increased to 55,95 percent," he explained.

He considered this kind of competition quite effective and later in every sub-district even at the RT RW level, similar events could be held. "By working together, the target of fulfilling and improving family nutrition can be realized well," continued the bespectacled man.

This activity was attended by participants from representatives of various elements, such as from TP PKK in 57 sub-districts in Malang City, the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of Malang City, Bank Indonesia Malang, and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Malang. (say/yon)
