Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Malang Raya held a Journalism Safari with the theme 'Improving Journalist Competence in the AI (Artificial Intelligence) Era' at the Santika Hotel, Malang City, Thursday (3/8/2023).

Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko who was present and opened the event gave his appreciation for the implementation of this Journalism Safari. "Activities like this are still very rare, with material related to Artificial Intelligence. I think this is the first in Malang City. This is very good for increasing the insight and knowledge of fellow journalists to face the demands of the development of the times," he explained.
Through this Journalistic Safari, journalists will gain new insights to be better prepared to face challenges in the era of technological development like today, including entering the AI era. "This is important to do so that journalists can prepare themselves as well as possible," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Education Division of PWI Pusat Nurjaman Mochtar said that currently the era has changed and entered a new world. Current technological developments, namely AI, have become a reality that exists to help human work. "With the changing times, of course the mindset and mindset of media workers must also change, they must continue to innovate," said Nurjaman.
Nurjaman said that in the past, to be able to set up a TV station, just to buy the frequency required a huge amount of funds. "Now people can broadcast on YouTube, TikTok, and other social media that can be done anywhere. Currently, there is no difference between Malang City, Jakarta to Papua. People can access New York from Malang City, people can access New York from Papua," explained Nurjaman.
From that fact, now everyone has the same opportunity to achieve success. "The richest person in the world today lives in the interior of India. He has the Oyo Hotel chain. This is different from before, the richest person in the world had to live in New York, Shanghai or other big cities," he concluded. (cah/yon)
