Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – After selecting five candidates to be proposed as Acting Mayor of Malang, the Malang City DPRD has determined three names of candidates to be proposed to the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).
The three candidates are the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City Erik Setyo Santoso, the Regional Secretary of Malang Regency Wahyu Hidayat, and the Assistant for Economics and Development (Assistant 2) of the Regional Secretariat of Malang City, Diah Ayu Kusuma Dewi.
Malang City DPRD Chairperson, I Made Riandiana Kartika, Monday (7/8/2023) said that the finalization of the three candidate names was carried out after 10 meetings with his staff. According to him, the three names have been legally approved to become the decision of the Malang City DPRD and have been considered the best of the best.
"From the five names, two people withdrew, so it was decided by consensus to add to the selection by involving the Regional Secretary of Malang Regency. After that we asked about his willingness to the Regional Secretary of Malang Regency in front of the leaders of the Malang City DPRD faction and he agreed," he explained.
After that, Made said there were four names and his party had also held a faction meeting, then decided on the three names. In determining the three names of the candidates, of course based on objective considerations. Such as formal and non-formal educational backgrounds, and the emphasis is on the history of each candidate's position.
"The three names were certainly not chosen immediately. In determining them, we had to push and pull. The emphasis was on the history of the position. This was a very objective choice," Made added.
The career history of the Regional Secretary of Malang Regency, Wahyu Hidayat, was revealed by Made, namely that he had been a sub-district head, Bappeda Malang Regency, PU Service, Acting Regent of Malang, then became Regional Secretary of Malang Regency.
"He was once the Acting Regent of Malang, although for two weeks, that became his tenure history. Then his education had taken a diploma in spatial planning to the Netherlands," he explained.
For the Regional Secretary of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso, also has a track record in the Malang City DLH, Malang City Bappeda, Malang City Licensing Service and became the Regional Secretary of Malang City.
Meanwhile, the Assistant for Economy and Development of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Diah Ayu Kusuma Dewi, once served as Head of the Malang City DPUPRPKP, Expert Staff, Assistant and several times concurrently served as Acting Head of the Service. "As for Mr. Eko Sri Yuliadi, he has only been the head of the service in Malang City once, precisely at the Malang City Diskopindag," he explained.
For now, the three candidate candidates are still in the filing stage which will then be sent to the provincial government. Made also said that the files of the three candidates will arrive at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday (9/8/2023).
Based on Made's statement, the decision on the elected Acting Mayor of Malang is expected to be announced as soon as September 20, 2023, or at the latest D-1 before the term of office of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Malang ends on September 24, 2023. (say/yon)
