Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Air quality testing has become one of the focuses of the Malang City Environmental Agency (DLH) in recent months. This step was taken because air quality has a significant impact on various community activities. Given the importance of avoiding situations like those in Jakarta so that they do not also occur in Malang City. Therefore, vehicle emission testing has become an important action taken by DLH.
Head of the Malang City Environmental Agency, Noer Rahman Wijaya, when met on Tuesday (22/8/2023), said that motor vehicle emission testing has become a routine step for the Environmental Agency in measuring air quality. He said that every year, emission testing is carried out to measure the impact of vehicle fuel on the environment.
Although the final test results are still in process, Rahman said that the Malang City Environmental Agency will use the information to formulate sustainable steps that will be applied to the general public later.
"On July 27th, the last emission test was carried out. The results are not out yet. But after the results are submitted to us, we will create a concept for the future. The goal is to provide insight to the community so that they can jointly maintain the urban air index," explained Rahman.
For the next step, DLH will tighten supervision of air quality parameters. It will also conduct periodic monitoring of air pressure and overall air quality. "With more careful monitoring, we can respond to changes in the air index more effectively," he explained.
In evaluating the urban air quality index, the Malang City DLH uses two different testing methods. First, by using a detector with a passive approach installed at several points for 14 days.
"Secondly, through active testing on the sides of roads prone to congestion, residential areas, trade, services, and offices with a total of 27 monitoring points," he concluded. (say/yon)
