Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji reviewed the construction work of a bozem (an artificial lake/pond/reservoir that functions to store water) in Tunggulwulung Village, Lowokwaru District, Malang City, Tuesday (22/8/2023). This review was carried out to ensure that the construction of the reservoir is running smoothly and according to plan.

Malang Mayor Sutiaji explained that the construction of Bozem Tunggulwulung is part of the Malang City Government's commitment to handling flooding problems in Malang City. This project is an implementation of the Malang City masterplan in handling flooding. "With the construction of Bozem Tunggulwulung, it is hoped that it can reduce the level of flooding in the Soekarno-Hatta area by 20 percent," said Sutiaji, Tuesday (22/8/2023).
In addition to the development in Tunggulwulung, Sutiaji revealed that there are four other points in Malang City that have been included in the Bozem development plan according to the masterplan. However, considering the development of the existing project, it is possible that there will be additional points in the future.
"The progress of the Bozem Tunggulwulung development project continues with a positive achievement of 0,39 percent. This shows encouraging developments," said Sutiaji.
Bozem Tunggulwulung's capacity is designed to accommodate 28.000 cubic meters of water. Currently, the level of development progress has reached 51 percent.
On this occasion, the Mayor of Malang not only monitored the smooth progress of the Bozem Tunggulwulung project, but also emphasized the importance of security for residents around the project location.
"The control work around the location will be carried out in stages to ensure the safety of residents, especially those close to the project. It is hoped that before the rainy season arrives, this work will be completed for the sake of mutual safety," said Sutiaji. (cah/yon)
