Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Arema FC Management has a strong determination to improve the team's achievements by appointing Fernando Valente as the new head coach who will lead the Singo Edan team in the BRI Liga 1 Competition for the 2023-2024 Season.
"Today we officially announce that Fernando Velente is the head coach of Arema FC," said Arema FC Team Manager, Wiebie Dwi Andriyas in a press conference session at Gajayana Stadium, Malang City, Wednesday (23/8/2023).
Wiebie revealed that Fernando Valente was considered the best option to improve the team's performance not only from a technical perspective but also to improve the players' mentality in matches.
"From several options, our choice fell on Fernando Valente. We need a coach who has a record of not only talking about technical matters, but also being able to lift the players' mentality," Wiebie added.
Fernando Valente himself is quite optimistic to be able to raise Arema FC's achievements with the support of the entire team including supporters. Support is very much needed because according to him he is not a magician who can change things instantly.
“I am not a magician and I do not perform miracles to win games, I am a coach with clear ideas about how football should be played and I am passionate about my players, because they are the ones who make me happy when they play with passion and courage for our ideas,” he said.
Fernando Valente emphasized to Arema FC players to give maximum effort on the field. This is a form of respect for the victims of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy on October 1, 2022.
"It depends on the desire to show the world that we have the humility to learn from our mistakes and we want to use this behavior to pay tribute to the victims of the Kanjuruhan stadium because otherwise their sacrifices will be in vain," he said. (say/yon)
