Ketawanggede Budoyo August Village Festival Revives Residents' Economy

Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – To enliven the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia and to boost the economy, residents of RW 3, Ketawanggede Village, Lowokwaru District, Malang City, were creative in holding the August Budoyo Village Festival along Jalan Kerto Pamuji to Jl Watu Mujur, Friday (25/8/2023).

In this festival, local residents sell various products of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), share culinary and traditional food. The festival was opened by the Head of RW 3 Ketawanggede Drs. Medi Harsono which was marked by the beating of the gong.

The Creative Team of the Ketawanggede Budoyo August Village Festival, Mukti Wijaya, said that this festival is a series of events to commemorate the 78th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence which highlights various cultural products and MSMEs in Ketawanggede Village.

"We deliberately raised the theme of culture to instill a love for the nation's culture in the community, especially the younger generation," explained Wiwit, Mukti Wijaya's nickname, Friday (25/8/2023).

This activity also serves as a means of communication between Ketawanggede residents and the general public in Malang City, including students who have been living and mingling with the community in Ketawanggede.

The Budoyo Village Festival in August presents an old-time folk market, UMKM products, old-time snacks, an entertainment stage, children's games, cultural education, there is also a Malang ontel performance, and a suket puppet show. "There are 50 booths at this festival, and it lasts for three days until Sunday (27/8/2023)," explained Wiwit.

Meanwhile, the Head of RW 3 Ketawanggede Village, Medi Harsono, said that he really appreciated what the residents of RW 3 had done. He said that this activity was a real form of the residents' enthusiasm to celebrate the 78th Indonesian Independence Day.

"It is very important to promote the nation's culture to be introduced to the younger generation, including how extraordinary Javanese culture is. Don't let Javanese people forget their Javaneseness," said Medi. (cah/yon)
