Malang (malangkota.go.id) – Welcoming the 78th Anniversary of the Indonesian Navy (AL) which is commemorated every September 10, the personnel of the Malang Indonesian Navy Base (Lanal) again held a social service. This time, together with a number of community elements, Lanal Malang cleaned the Metro Malang river, Tuesday (5/9/2023). This activity is part of the National Clean River Program (Prokasih) which is implemented simultaneously in 78 locations in Indonesia.

Commander of Lanal Malang, Navy Colonel (KH/W) Dewi Lestari, S. Pd., M. Tr. Hanla., MM, CRHMP., said that this event is a manifestation of the Indonesian Navy's concern for the environment and society. In addition, this program is also one of the Indonesian Navy's national priority programs in maintaining river cleanliness.
Colonel Dewi added that the existence of rivers and clean water is very important for human life. She emphasized that if there is pollution in the river, it will impact the quality of life of the community. "River water has many benefits, such as for irrigation and meeting other needs, so its cleanliness must be maintained," added the friendly woman.
"Rivers are an important water resource for human life needs, but the quality of the water tends to decline as a result of the increasing burden of pollution originating from community activities along the river basin," he explained.
Therefore, he said it is necessary to strengthen the existence of the Clean River Program (Prokasih) as a national program. In this case, it is also to improve the smoothness and control of river water pollution with the aim of being used properly by the community," he explained.
The 2023 TNI AL Prokasih activity, said Dewi, is expected to educate the public not to throw garbage in rivers and so as not to cause impacts and disasters that can harm the community, especially those living around riverbanks.
"Therefore, efforts are needed to maintain environmental sustainability in the river area and its surroundings. Therefore, the Indonesian Navy also encourages the growth of public awareness and responsibility in maintaining and controlling river and water pollution sustainably," concluded Dewi. (say/yon)
