Malang City Transportation Agency Tows Car Parked for a Year in Kayutangan

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub) took firm action against parking violations on Jalan Jenderal Basuki Rahmat or the Kayutangan Heritage Village area, Saturday night (9/9/2023). Officers towed an old red sedan because the car was known to have been parked on the shoulder of the road in the Kayutangan corridor for about a year.

The vehicle is no longer parked according to existing regulations, but has instead become a vehicle that is 'staying' on the street, so officers must take firm action for the sake of the comfort and beauty of the city.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Malang City Transportation Agency, Widjaja Saleh Putra when met at the towing location, Saturday (9/9/2023). The car was then moved to the parking area at the former Environmental Service (DLH) office located on Jalan Majapahit. He admitted that before taking this action, he had coordinated with the car owner who turned out to be a local village resident.

Widjaja added that the car owner claimed that his vehicle was damaged so he left it on the street. However, he said that leaving the car like that was not the right thing to do.

"If later the owner wants to pick up his car, we invite him to coordinate with the officers at the parking location and bring the vehicle documents. The pick-up must also be witnessed by officials at the local sub-district, such as the RT or RW head and the village head, so that it does not cause new problems," he explained.

This car towing action is a step taken by the Malang City Transportation Agency in order to maintain order and ensure the use of parking spaces in accordance with applicable regulations.

"This action is the second time, and in the future we hope that no more residents or vehicles will park for a long time wherever the location is," concluded Widjaja. (say/yon)
