"This program is a manifestation of our commitment. One of the central government's affairs delegated to the regions is the availability of decent housing," explained Malang Mayor Sutiaji.

The number one person in the Malang City Government said that currently in Malang City there are around 1.400 uninhabitable houses that need repairs. However, for 2023, the Malang City Government has disbursed funds of approximately IDR 3,7 billion for RTLH assistance. The assistance sourced from the 2023 APBD is distributed to 185 low-income residents. "This requires a fairly long process, it cannot be built immediately, the certainty of their rights must be examined first," he said.

In 2023, the City Government distributed assistance for RTLH house renovation in 26 sub-districts in Malang City. Each resident was allocated a budget of IDR 20.000.000,00. The details of the beneficiary residents based on their domicile are 40 residents of Klojen District, 30 residents of Blimbing District, 12 residents of Kedungkandang District, 23 residents of Lowokwaru District. Meanwhile, Sukun District was recorded as receiving the largest quota in this period's assistance, namely 80 residents.

"In Sukun there are indeed many because there are many who need it, the second is administrative readiness, the third is in Sukun is a priority of our APBD. While there is still other assistance such as from the PUPR Ministry and BSPS, in the future we will shift this to other areas," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of DPUPRPKP Malang City, Dr. Dandung Djulharjanto explained that each beneficiary of RTLH assistance received assistance worth Rp20 million. "The total funding for assistance for uninhabitable houses is 20 million, the details are 17,5 million for materials and 2,5 million for workers. We have created a bank account for the beneficiaries, for the disbursement we transfer it directly. So there are no cash transactions at all, to minimize misuse of funds," he said.

DPUPRPKP has started implementing the house renovation project since September 1st and is targeted to be completed in three months. "The target is that one house will be worked on in about 2-3 weeks. For the total of 185 houses, the target is to complete all of them by November 30th," concluded Dandung. (ari/yon)
