Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan) held a Freshwater Fish Cultivation Training (Budikdamber/Fish Cultivation in Buckets) and Infrastructure Facilities in the Klojen District Hall, Malang City, Tuesday (12/9/2023).

Head of Dispangtan Malang City Slamet Husnan Hariyadi, SP said this activity is an educational activity for the community regarding fish farming in buckets or Budikdamber. The fish being farmed are catfish which are developed using an aquaponic system. "We hope that with this training, residents can utilize the limited land they have for fish farming while harvesting vegetables," explained Slamet, Tuesday (12/9/2023).
With the Budikdamber system, residents can cultivate catfish in limited space. According to him, this system is suitable to be developed in the middle of the city such as in Malang City, because residents can cultivate catfish and vegetables using only a bucket. "With this program, the community will be helped in terms of improving family nutrition by being able to harvest their own catfish and vegetables from home," said Slamet.
Assisted by instructors from the Malang City Dispangtan and also the East Java Provincial Marine and Fisheries Service, residents can absorb the knowledge taught to then practice in their respective homes and share it with local residents. "This activity is also a real manifestation of the Malang City Dispangtan program to reduce stunting rates by providing good nutrition through catfish and vegetables," said Slamet.
In addition to being given training, participants were also given facilities for catfish cultivation in buckets. This activity was attended by 263 participants divided into three sessions, namely on the 12th as many as 88 participants, the 13th as many as 88 participants and the 14th as many as 87 participants.
Each participant in this training received a set of budikdamber equipment, feed, fish seeds and also vegetable seeds. With this activity, it is expected to further increase nutritional and food independence starting from the smallest level, namely in the family. (cah/yon)
