Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City, which hosted the Working Meeting of the Indonesian Regional Secretaries Forum (Forsesdasi) of the East Java Commissariat, received a warm welcome. This was conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji when he was the keynote speaker at the Forsesdasi Working Meeting held at the Malang Creative Center (MCC) Building, Malang City, Friday (15/9/2023).
Malang Mayor Sutiaji expressed his gratitude for the trust given to Malang City to be the venue for the East Java Commissariat Forsesdasi. MCC, said Sutiaji, accommodates 17 sub-sectors of the creative economy, allowing participants to feel the atmosphere as Silicon Valley Indonesia.
As the keynote speaker, the Mayor of Malang explained about overseeing the transformation of the work system towards a more dynamic and impactful bureaucracy. Sutiaji highlighted Indonesia's history of 350 years of colonization, making it difficult to change the mindset of society.
"The public mindset considers the government as a colonizer, and the connotation is that the regional secretary and his subordinates must be corrupt because they are colonizers. This is the mindset that is still a strong barrier between the people and the government. This is what must be changed," said Sutiaji.
In the context of today's democracy, Sutiaji observed that even though there are laws, there are still significant limitations between the people and the government. Transformation is directed at reducing the distance between the people and the government.
He further said that the demands of society are now very high. Current development is no longer top-down as before, but is now more bottom-up.
Meanwhile, the Head of Forsesdasi East Java Commissariat, M. Sodiq T., M.Si expressed his gratitude to the Mayor of Malang for the willingness of Malang City to host this event. Especially considering the very short time, Malang City managed to organize this event very well. "Malang City is our common dream, close to any area in East Java," said Sodiq.
The activity in Malang City is considered as a means of friendship and mutual strengthening, as well as an opportunity to gain knowledge together.
