Interestingly, Malang City's gold medals actually come from several sports that were not previously top, such as billiards which won nine gold medals and wushu which contributed six gold medals.
Meanwhile, the sports that have been the traditional strengths of Malang City, such as weightlifting, won seven golds, swimming won nine golds and dance won four golds.
Public Relations of KONI Malang City, Laily Fitriyah Liza Min Nelly said that this achievement illustrates the strength of sports in Malang City evenly. Moreover, almost all sports participating in the East Java Porprov VIII were able to contribute medals.
"Alhamdulillah, we were able to surpass last year's gold medal achievement, locking the target of 76 gold medals that had been previously set. Hopefully, later we can still add to our medal haul," he said.
"Currently, there is no dominant sport as a gold mine, because the distribution of medals is even. Almost all sports are able to achieve achievements in the East Java Porprov this time," added the woman in the hijab.
Malang City is currently in third place with 76 gold, 52 silver, and 77 bronze medals with a total of 483 points. Meanwhile, Sidoarjo Regency is in second place with 637 points and at the top of the standings is Surabaya City with a total of 948 points. (say-hms KONI/yon)
